Celtic Echoes Trio

Celtic Echoes Band (aka: The Goodtime Band) is a versatile ensemble of classical, pops, classic rock, and traditional Irish musicians providing a wide range of musical styles for weddings, church services, special events, holiday parties, corporate events, community events, and concert series.

They are equally happy providing appropriate background music as they are to rocking the stage with an eclectic mixture of fun songs. They can provide for the complete wedding ceremony with Kathleen’s haunting harp and song for the wedding ceremony, soft music for your cocktail hour, and then rock out the reception with oldies, classic rock, and even Irish dancers if you like! They specialize in a sound system that lets you enjoy your conversation at your special event, or they can rock the house if you prefer!

They offer a 3 or 4 piece version to provide a fuller sound and richer harmonies if you prefer. They also offer other specialist musicians to accommodate your special requests. They can provide a complete sound system for your speakers and/or ceremony. And they offer Irish dancers to perform, or even a ceili instructor to teach your guests to dance.

Special Request ensembles: sacred/ classical/ renaissance/ ceili music: Celtic Echoes is happy to meet your every musical need with special requests to accompany choirs, orchestras, or soloists; provide special music for churches or community concerts; provide exacting dance music for ceili dances or feis contests; or present a larger and fuller orchestra for your corporate or special event.

All of Celtic Echoes musicians are classically trained as well as skilled in folk music and a wide genre of other musical styles. To accommodate other musical requests we often work with additional musicians such as the ones listed below. There is virtually no limit to what we can provide for your event or ceremony.

Kathleen Hartshorne – harp/vocals & Jim Moore – guitar/vocals. See the Duo page for their information.

Tim BrittainTim Brittain – violin/percussion: Although classical music (especially modern forms) have been his main musical interest, he has found the richness and joy of Celtic Music (which stretches from India to the western shores of the USA) a fun challenge and a pleasure. He recently joined Celtic Echoes, where he has added his own particular flare to the arrangements. He has worked musically with Kathleen for many years. He performs on her CD Ancient Echoes as well. Now with the addition of classic rock and oldies to the band, he has enjoyed developing a whole new dimension to his artistry.

Tim BrittainCarol McCollum – fiddle/vocals: At the age of 7, Carol started classical training on the violin. Thirty years later, she discovered the fun of fiddling. In the past 20 yrs, Carol has entertained with various groups, including Silverwood, Cobblestone, Polka Dots, & Celtic Echoes for weddings, receptions, dinners, wakes, concerts & celebrations. She was instrumental in founding & leading the South Bay Branch of the San Diego Bluegrass Society about 20 years ago and is past president of the Old Time Fiddle Club. Carol continues to enjoy sharing the joy of the magic of music, no matter which genre.

Additional musicians who join Celtic Echoes from time to time:

Diane Wilson – flute: is the principle flutist and a featured soloist of the San Diego Concert Band. She has also performed with several orchestras, including the La Jolla Civic Orchestra and the Grossmont Symphony Orchestra. Having studied under San Diego Symphony’s principal flutist Damian Bursill-Hall, and also under Judith Bentley, student of the late William Kincaid, Diane is a private flute instructor for students of all ages. She is also part of the SilverWood music ensemble, a versatile music ensemble that plays many different genres, including classical, popular, Celtic, and other international styles, and performs throughout southern California.

Rebecca Lindquist Lee – fiddle/keyboard: Rebecca majored in Music at University of La Verne, in La Verne, CA. Played violin in the Cal Poly U. Orchestra. Rebecca played keyboard in the Cobblestone Ceili Band. She received Orff Schulwerk Levels Training and teaches music for Julian Charter School and private students. She plays weekly with the Pride of Erin Ceili Band and joins Celtic Echoes Band from time to time. Rebecca accompanies Kathleen on piano or organ when classical solos such as “Ave Maria” are requested. She has also accompanied Kathleen’s special presentations such as show tunes, gay nineties, songs for Valentine’s or Mother’s Day. Rebecca is one of only a handful of musicians in San Diego who can play the exacting tempos required of Ceili and competition Irish dancing.

Bill Lee – mandolin/vocals: Bill learned the traditional Irish style of mandolin picking as a child. He was taught by ear, as is the tradition there. In addition, he plays guitar, fiddle, Irish whistle, banjo, lute, and bodhran. Born in Scotland, raised in both Scotland and Ireland. Bill began his musical career playing Country Western in the pubs of Belfast. He played for years in the Finest City Jazz Band, the Slan Blues Band, and the Emerald Wave.
